WOULD YOU WEAR A UNITARD?

When it comes to stylish performance wear, you know we’re on board.

This season ditch your yoga pants and take athleisure to stylish new heights with a unitard - a refreshing sartorial statement and wardrobe essential for the woman on the go.

Not to be confused with the classic leotard that stars a higher leg line, the unitard was originally a swimsuit in the 1900s and was often worn in a nude tone by ballerinas and acrobats. It eventually descended into pop culture and was worn by rock legends like Blondie, Mick Jagger and David Bowie as well as supermodels including Christie Brinkley and our own Elle Macpherson.

In 2019, think sculpted looks, clean lines and maximum flexibility, with the unitard reimagined in high-tech fabrics, from freeform four-way fabric to nylon/elastane blends that provide support whilst feeling light and breathable to wear. It’s the perfect style statement for the gym, Pilates or outdoor hiking and if there ever was an Olympics for fashion, this is what we would be wearing.

Vaara’s two-tone bodysuit in vibrant pink and blue is a subtle way to stand out from the all-black wearing gym crowd.

Technical and bold, The Upside’s camo-printed unitard looks just at cool at spin class as it does with an old-school bomber jacket for a full body-armour aesthetic.

Create a fresh style statement pairing Fendi’s take on the trend with a denim jacket, cool sneakers and light touch of jewellery - the perfect look for running your daily errands. Karl Lagerfeld, rule breaker and the king of Fendi, would most certainly approve.

New York label Outdoor Voicesbelieves we should always be in a wardrobe that meshes gym and everyday life and when it looks this stylish, we concur!
